DIY: Styled Bamboo Utensils

I love to have stylish kitchenware and utensils, but sometimes what I like is either an idea in my head I can’t seem to find anywhere, or something I found in the wrong colors. I saw these great utensils from West Elm during some holiday sale shopping and thought they were so cute! However I prefer a more coastal color pallet. If you do buy your own, make sure to get bamboo over wood so they don’t splinter. I found a pack of utensils I liked and thought, I can paint them myself!

I think you could actually do this with anything wood/bamboo, like a serving platter or other decorative ware, just as long as the paint doesn’t actually touch the food. I was able to find a small wheel of acrylic paints, which was perfect for this project because I didn’t need that much paint; they can get expensive if you want several colors. I did buy a full size white color knowing I would want a pastel pallet, which has proven worthy for other projects as well.

If you’re all set for utensils in your own kitchen, these would make a great gift for the holidays and has that homemade feel that always makes that person feel special. Plus it’s very budget friendly!

I used craft’s tape that I put four inches up the handle, but you could paint it as high as you wanted. I suggest Michaels for most of your craft supplies and painting needs, plus they almost always have a coupon, so check their website before you go!

Let me know what colors you chose or what else you personalized with acrylic paints!
