Happy 4th of July everyone, and happy birthday America!
I was debating which recipe to share next, but since this desert is so colorful and the plates and setting make it so patriotic, I just had to go with the Strawberry Shortcake!
This is one of my favorite deserts because its not too sweet, there’s nothing quite like freshly whipped whip cream and the slighty salty notes from the biscuit make the perfect combination. Now of course I think if you threw in a few blueberries it would be even better and represent that flag just a little bit more, plus add some more antioxidants in your desert.
This desert is perfect for summer also because you can make the biscuits a head of time which is easy and makes for a room temperature dish with some cool, fresh cream and fruit. You could make a little extra as well so you have enough for breakfast for the weekend, maybe with a little jam fresh from the farmers market? Drooling a little on my computer jut thinking about it!
The fourth is such a special time of year, as we remember everything that happened in history to get us to this point. It honestly still baffles my mind, and I’m not sure I would have been tough enough! I guess if I was stuck feeding everyone then I could find my place back then though!
I hope all your cookouts, boat rides, beach days and grill marks come out perfectly today! It’s going to be 115 in Vegas today so ill be by the pool celebrating with some of the finest ladies I know!
